Tomando como base las ideas de A. R. Radcliffe- Brown, E. E. Evans- Pritchard y Clifford Geertz,, se intenta responder a la pregunta: ¿Son las ciencias sociales realmente científicas, tal como las ciencias naturales? Analizando los diferentes debates antropológicos sobre esta cuestión, dilucida los propósitos de las interpretaciones etnográficas y, en general, el papel de la antropología.
