Abstract
The objective of this text is to develop an analytical proposal on the social construction of night as a specific time, which, through the material and symbolic appropriation of spaces, enables the structuring of varied nocturnal social universes among heterogeneous actors, which I call nocturnities. The contribution of this text lies in the nocturnalities of urban villages, thereby expanding
the discussion on the culture of night and nocturnalities
to rural and rural-urban contexts, not limiting it to urban
realms and youth sectors. Methodologically, I drew on three years of fieldwork focused on nocturnal places and
testimonies from their protagonists in the city of Puebla. Night is spelled out through nocturnal spaces where
actors, practices, places, and significations build nocturnalities as a sociocultural construct within a specific
temporality.
